# Add additional Gantt charts to a project

## Overview: additional Gantt charts

Multiple Gantt charts per project let you organise different work streams, phases, or disciplines on separate timelines, which is used when design, construction, and commissioning schedules need to stay separate without losing the master plan.

* Your role must be **Manager** or higher.
* You can find the menu at Gantt module - **Tools** - **Add new Gantt instance**.
* This creates an additional timeline. Removing a chart moves its tasks to the default timeline.

|| Only users with the project role **Manager** or higher can add or remove Gantt charts.

Each project starts with one default Gantt chart. Tasks can be moved between charts.

## How to add additional Gantt charts

1. Open your project and click **Tools** in the Gantt chart module.
2. Select **Add new Gantt instance** (or the equivalent option in settings).
3. Name the new timeline to match its purpose (for example Commissioning Phase or HVAC Works).
4. Repeat as needed to create multiple charts.

## Results: multiple Gantt charts

* All Gantt charts are visible from the project's Gantt module
* You can switch between charts without changing other schedules
* Removing a Gantt chart moves its tasks to the default timeline automatically

## Troubleshooting: additional Gantt charts

| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot add a new Gantt chart | Project role is below Manager | Ask a **Manager** or **Admin** to raise your role or to add the chart |
| Tasks missing after chart removal | Tasks moved to the default timeline automatically | Open the default timeline and locate the moved tasks |
