# Add images to an existing task

## Overview: add images to a task

Image upload on a task lets you attach photos or documentation to any task or issue after it was created, which is used when supporting files arrive later or when you need to document a finding.

* Your role can be any project role.
* You can find the menu at the open task - file icon in the task toolbar.
* This changes the task record and any reports or PDF exports that include that task.

## How to add images to a task

1. Open the task you want to update.
2. Click the small **file icon** in the task toolbar.
3. Drag and drop files into the upload area, or click to select files from your device.

## Results: images on a task

* Images are stored on the task record
* Users with access to the task can view the images
* New exports include images uploaded before the export ran

## Troubleshooting: add images to a task

| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot upload an image | File type is not supported | Convert the file to JPG, PNG, or PDF and upload again |
| Upload button not visible | Task is not open, or toolbar is not loaded | Close and reopen the task, then look for the file icon in the toolbar |
| Image missing from a report | Report was generated before the upload | Re-export the report after the image is attached |
