# Add review comments and annotations to files

## Overview: review comments on files

The review module lets you mark up documents and drawings with comments that can be assigned to responsible parties, which is used when design or document review needs a visual, traceable punch list of observations on the file itself.

* Your role can be any project member to add your own comments. Assigning comments to others requires **Manager** or higher.
* You can find the menu at Review module - open file - markup tools.
* This creates comments linked to locations on the file and can create tasks for assigned users.

|| Only users with the project role Manager or higher can assign review comments to others. All project members can view and add their own comments.

* Comments remain linked to the file version they were created on

## Troubleshooting: review comments

| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot assign a comment to a user | Your project role is below Manager | Ask a project **Admin** to raise your role to **Manager**, or ask a Manager to assign the comment |
| Comment not visible to others | Comment is still draft, or project settings restrict visibility | Publish the comment, then check project review visibility settings |
| Cannot find the file to review | Wrong project or folder | Open the correct project and confirm the file is in the review module |
