# Advance import (bulk import) for the (System & test view, QA or Site Inspection)

## Overview: advanced bulk import in System & Test view

In **System & Test view**, you can define an asset or equipment type and pre-attach one or more checklists so that new items of that type get those checklists imported automatically, which is used for repeated systems such as VAV boxes, fans, or pumps.

It applies only to **System & Test view**.

* Your role must be **Manager** or higher.
* You can find the menu at **Project settings** - **Checklists**.
* This changes automatic checklist creation for assets and bulk imports in **System & Test view**.

|| Only users with the project role **Manager** or higher can configure checklist imports.

## Requirements for advanced bulk import

| Requirement | Description |
| ---- |
| Project role | Manager or higher |
| Module | System & Test view only |
| Import types | Sub-checklists or Checklist items |
| Spreadsheet IDs | Do not set IDs manually if they already exist in the project |

## How to configure automatic checklist import

1. Go to **Project settings**.
2. Select the **Checklists** section.
3. Choose **Sub-checklists** or **Checklist items**.
4. Define the asset or equipment type and attach the checklists.
5. Create an asset of that type later to confirm the linked checklists import automatically.

## Results: Sub-checklists vs Checklist items

### Sub-checklists

* Attached checklists appear as child checklists under the asset
* The asset acts as a folder that contains the sub-checklists

Example for Ventilation:

* Mechanical complete
* Functional check
* System integration test

### Checklist items

* The asset itself is a single checklist
* Items from the attached checklist or checklists are imported into that checklist

Example: an asset called Ventilation with checklist Ventilation - General inspection receives those inspection items directly.

## How to import with the bulk import spreadsheet

1. Open the bulk import spreadsheet.
2. Select the checklist type (sub-checklist or checklist items) in the spreadsheet.
3. Upload the file.

||| Important: IDs are shared across the project and must not be set manually by the user. If you include IDs that already exist, CxPlanner moves the existing checklist.

## Troubleshooting: advanced bulk import

| Problem | Cause | Solution |
| ---- |
| Checklist does not appear on new asset | Asset type is not linked to a checklist | Open **Project settings** - **Checklists** and attach the checklist to that type |
| Wrong checklist structure imported | Wrong import type selected | Change Sub-checklists or Checklist items in project settings and recreate or re-import |
| Spreadsheet import failed | Incorrect format or missing type selection | Use the bulk import template, set the checklist type column, and retry |
| Existing checklist moved unexpectedly | Spreadsheet included an ID that already exists | Remove manual IDs from the spreadsheet and re-import |
