# Create custom tasks groups for better overview

## Overview: create custom groups in the punch list

In **Punch list items and Tasks**, you can create custom groups and a group hierarchy by column values such as system, zone, or status, which is used when you want a clearer personal overview of punch list items and tasks.

Grouping is a personal view setting and does not change what other users see.

* Your role can be any user with access to **Punch list items and Tasks**.
* You can find grouping by right-clicking a column header and choosing **Create new group**.
* This changes only your punch list layout. It does not change task data or exports for others.

|| All users with access to **Punch list items and Tasks** can create and manage their own group views.

## How to create a single group

1. Open **Punch list items and Tasks**.
2. Right-click the column header you want to group by.
3. Select **Create new group**.
4. Review the grouped punch list.
