# Edit the project settings

## Overview: edit project settings

Project settings in **Project settings** - **Project data** let you update core project information such as name, description, and status, which is used when project details change during commissioning or handover.

For permanent deletion, see [Delete or archive a project](https://help.cxplanner.com/en-us/article/delete-or-archive-a-project-1611yyr/). For renaming only, see [Change the project name](https://help.cxplanner.com/en-us/article/change-the-project-name-exiie/).

* Your role must be **Manager** or **Admin**. Some fields may be restricted to **Admin** only.
* You can find the menu at **Project settings** - **Project data**.
* This changes project information used for filtering and reporting. Changing status does not lock access by itself.

|| Only users with the project role **Manager** or **Admin** can edit project settings. Some settings may be restricted to **Admin** only.

* Updated fields appear across the project overview and related views
* Status values such as Open, Archived, or Closed are used for internal filtering and reporting
* Status changes do not automatically remove user access
