# Generate checklists and test scripts using the CxAI

## Overview: generate checklists with CxAI

CxAI checklist generation creates commissioning checklists and test scripts from an equipment or system type, and optionally from a Sequence of Operation (SOO) upload, which is used to kickstart PFC, FPT, IST, and Level 1-5 test plans.

For importing an existing Excel, Word, or PDF checklist, see the import guides.

* Your role must be **Manager** or **Admin**.
* You can find the menu at Checklist module or Test plan builder - **Generate using AI**.
* This creates a new editable checklist template or test script. It does not publish or assign the checklist until you review and save it.

|| There is a daily and monthly usage limit for AI generation.
||| If you reach the limit, contact support and include your company name, project, and approximate daily volume needed.

## How to generate a checklist with CxAI

1. Go to the **Checklist module** or **Test plan builder**.
2. Click **Generate using AI**.
3. Enter the equipment type, for example AHU, fire alarm panel, or chilled water system.
4. Optionally add specific topics or focus areas.
5. Optionally upload a Sequence of Operation (SOO) file so CxAI can extract logic and generate a test sequence.
6. Click **Generate checklist**.
7. Review and edit the generated content before saving.

| Checklist lacks detail | No refinement prompts were added | Add focus areas or topics, then generate again |
| Results seem repetitive | Input was too generic | Use system-specific terms or add topic prompts |
| Cannot upload SOO file | Unsupported file type | Upload PDF or plain text |
| Hit generation limit | Daily or monthly usage cap reached | Contact support with your company name and requested quota increase |
