Import a Excel (XLSX) Checklist into CxPlanner

Overview

How do I import checklist templates from Excel into CxPlanner?

CxPlanner allows you to import checklist templates directly from Excel. You can either import multiple templates at once using a multi-sheet Excel file or quickly copy and paste checklist data directly into an existing template.

Only users with access to the Template Center can import checklist templates.

When and why to use this

Use Excel import when you want to create or update checklist templates faster and in a more structured way.

Typical use cases:

  • Creating many checklist templates at once
  • Reusing existing Excel-based test procedures
  • Quickly bulk importing commissioning tests
  • Standardizing test procedures across projects
  • Copying and pasting data directly from Excel into existing templates

Important things to know:

  • CxPlanner uses a dedicated Excel template for imports
  • Only the fields Topic and Test Item are required
  • One Excel sheet equals one template during multi-sheet import
  • You can add requirements such as photos, numeric values, and ordering after import
  • Green cells in the Excel template update automatically during editing
