# Project Folder (Master project)

## Overview: project folder

A project folder groups related projects under one container so you can see schedules and tasks across them together, which is used when multiple sites or jobs for one client need a shared Gantt and task overview.

Existing projects can be added into a folder at any time from the folder's setup page.
* Your role must be **Project Admin** or higher.
* You can find the menu at **Projects** - **New Project Folder**.
* This creates a master container that affects combined task overview and Gantt chart for included projects.

|| Only users with the **Project Admin** role or higher can create and manage project folders.

## What a project folder provides

| Feature | Description |
| ---- |
| Gantt chart | Combines schedules from all projects in the folder |
| Task overview | Shows all tasks across included projects |
| Access control | Only users added to the folder can see or access it |
| Folder as master project | Works similarly to a master project setup |

## How to create a project folder

1. Navigate to **Projects** via the left sidebar.
2. Click **New Project Folder** (or the **+** button).
3. Give the folder a name and save.
4. Create new projects or add existing projects to the folder from the list.

## Results: project folder

* Related projects sit under one folder container
* Combined Gantt and task overview cover the included projects
* Only users added to the folder can open it

## Troubleshooting: project folder

| Problem | Cause | Solution |
| ---- |
| Cannot see New Project Folder | Module not enabled for the company, or company role is not Admin | Ask a **Company Admin** or your CxPlanner contact to enable project folders, or confirm your company role |
| Cannot view folder contents | You are not added to the project folder | Ask a **Project Admin** to add you to the folder |
| Tasks or Gantt missing from view | No projects have been added to the folder | Add projects to the folder from the folder setup page |
