# Rename photos within tasks

## Overview: rename photos within tasks

Renaming a task photo replaces a generic camera filename with a descriptive label in CxPlanner and in exports, which is used when punch list documentation needs clear photo names.

It does not rename the original file on your device.

* Your role must allow you to edit the task. Assigned users can rename photos on tasks they can edit.
* You can find the control on the open task - photo - three dots menu.
* This changes the photo name in the task view and in later exports.

|| Users who are assigned to a task can upload and rename photos on that task.

## How to rename photos within tasks

1. Open the task and click the three dots menu in the top-right corner of the photo.
2. Enter a new descriptive name for the photo.
3. Click **Save**.
