# Set up a Timeline and Schedule for Data Centers in the Asset Module

## Overview: data center schedule and timeline

Asset module scheduling lets you assign start and end dates to checklists across levels, import dates from Excel, and manage the plan in a Gantt timeline, which is used for Level 2-5 data center test sequences.

Assets and checklists must already exist before you plan dates.

* Your role must be **Manager** or higher.
* You can find the menu at Assets - date columns, or menu - **Gantt Timeline**.
* This changes checklist dates, Gantt bars, and dependency links. Folder-level date changes affect all underlying checklists.

|| Only users with the project role Manager or higher can plan and edit commissioning plans.

### Plan checklists directly in the asset view
1. Go to your project and open **Assets**.
2. Select an asset, for example ATS.
3. In the **Start date** and **End date** columns, select a date in the grey row for a level, for example Level 3.
4. Confirm CxPlanner assigns dates to all underlying checklists.

### Plan one checklist at a time
1. Click the start date for a specific checklist.
2. Select a date.
3. Repeat for the end date.

### Import plan from Excel
1. Go to **Asset Overview** and click **Options**.
2. Select **Import**.
3. Upload your Excel file with dates.

### Use the Gantt timeline
1. Open the menu and select **Gantt Timeline**.
2. Expand the levels or folders to view planned checklists.
3. Drag bars to adjust dates.
4. Move entire folders to update all underlying activities.
5. Adjust individual checklists as needed.

### Create dependencies
1. Select a checklist.
2. Define a dependency to another checklist.
3. Use an end-to-start relationship.

## Troubleshooting: data center schedule

| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Dates are not updated correctly | Wrong level or row selected | Select the grey level row for the correct level, then set dates again |
| Plan changes unintentionally | A folder was moved in Gantt | Undo by editing individual checklists, or move only the intended folder |
| Plan is too complex | Too many checklist-level dependencies | Prefer level dependencies instead of many one-to-one links |
| Gantt does not show all data | Levels or folders are collapsed | Expand folders in the Gantt view |
