# Setting login duration for your company

## Overview: set login duration

The login duration setting in **Company profile** - **Security** controls how many days a session stays valid before CxPlanner logs the user out automatically, which is used to reduce the risk of long-lived open sessions.

For an immediate company-wide logout, see [Force all users to log out](https://help.cxplanner.com/en-us/article/force-all-users-to-log-out-1ewq31e/).

* Your role must be **Company Admin**.
* You can find the menu at Profile icon - **Company profile** - **Security**.
* This changes the maximum session length for new login sessions. Existing sessions are not ended immediately.

|| Only the **Company Admin** can change this setting.

By default, users are logged out after 60 days. You can set the duration as low as 1 day and as high as 365 days.

## How to change the login duration

1. Click your **profile icon** in the top right corner.
2. Select **Company profile**.
3. Go to the **Security** tab.
4. Find the login duration field and choose the desired duration (maximum 365 days).

## Results: after changing login duration

* New login sessions use the new duration
* Existing sessions are not logged out immediately by this change
* To apply the new limit right away, also run force logout under **Security**

## Troubleshooting: login duration

| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot change the duration | Your company role is not Company Admin | Ask a **Company Admin** to open **Company profile** - **Security** and set the duration |
| Users are still logged in after the change | The setting applies to new sessions only | Use **Force all users to log out**, then ask users to sign in again |
| Duration option will not save above 365 days | 365 days is the maximum | Choose a value between 1 and 365 days and save again |
