# Tutorial: Creating and managing an Asset-based project

## Overview: asset-based project tutorial

The Asset module in CxPlanner lets you create an asset-based project, define asset types, add or import assets, attach checklists, approve tests, and track issues, which is used when you need an equipment-led commissioning structure.

This guide is a quick tutorial video plus condensed steps. For Excel import details, see the asset import guides. For checklist template authoring, see Template Center tutorials.

* Your role must be **Manager** or higher to create and manage the project.
* You can find the menu at **Projects** - create or open an asset-based project - **Assets** - **Overview**.
* This changes assets, checklists, **System & Test view**, and issues.

|| Only users with the project role **Manager** or higher can create and manage asset projects.

| Asset import fails | Missing required fields or wrong headers | Check CSV headers and mandatory columns, then re-import |
| Checklist not visible | No checklist type selected for the project or asset | Add checklist types under project settings and attach templates to asset types |
| Issues not appearing | Filters applied or wrong assignment | Reset filters and confirm the issue is assigned to the expected user or group |
