# Tutorial: Setting up the "System & test view"

## Overview: System & Test view setup

**System & Test view** lets you add equipment items manually or by spreadsheet bulk import, customize columns, bulk edit items, and import checklist templates, which is used when your project runs on System & Test view instead of the Asset module.

* Your role must be **Manager** or higher for most actions. Customizing columns requires project **Admin**.
* You can find the menu at the project - **System & Test view**.
* This changes equipment records, linked checklists, and imports or exports for the project.

|| Only users with the project role **Manager** or higher can add, import, and bulk edit items. Column settings require **Admin**.

## How to set up System & Test view

### Add items and review columns
1. Open CxPlanner and create or select a project.
2. Open **System & Test view**.
3. Click **New Item**, enter a name (for example Mechanical Complete), and save.
4. Add more items (for example Air Handling Unit) and assign tags (for example Unit 01, Unit 02).
5. Review columns such as **Link** (checklists), **Status**, **Responsible**, and **Info**.

### Customize columns
1. Open the menu and select **Settings** (project **Admin** required).
2. Enable or disable columns and drag to rearrange them.

### Import from spreadsheet and bulk edit
1. In the menu, select **Download Overview** and fill in the spreadsheet with equipment details.
2. In the menu, select **Bulk Import from Excel** and upload the prepared spreadsheet (.xlsx).
3. Select **Bulk Edit Many Items**, choose the items to move or modify, and apply changes.

### Import and manage checklists
1. Select one or more items and choose **Import Template**.
2. Find the correct template and import checklist items.
3. To delete, select the checklist item and choose delete checklist, delete checklist and all children, or delete checklist items only.
4. Click the **Shield** icon to filter items assigned to you, or **Show All** to clear the filter.

## Troubleshooting: System & Test view setup

| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unable to access Settings | Project role is below Admin | Ask a project **Admin** to open **Settings** or raise your role |
| Spreadsheet upload fails | File does not match the download template | Download **Download Overview**, copy your data into that format, then use **Bulk Import from Excel** |
| Checklist import missing items | Wrong template selected | Select the correct checklist template and import again |
| Cannot bulk edit | Project role is below Manager | Ask a project **Admin** to raise your role to **Manager** or higher |
