# Use CxPlanner in Offline Mode

## Overview: offline mode

Offline mode in CxPlanner lets you complete checklists, take photos, and create tasks without internet, then sync when the connection returns, which is used on mobile and tablet in mechanical rooms, basements, and remote sites.

* Your role can be any CxPlanner user.
* You can find the menu at project sidebar - **Offline synchronization** on mobile and tablet, or avatar menu - **Offline synchronization** on desktop.
* This caches selected project data on the device and queues checklist answers, tasks, and photos for upload when you reconnect.

|| You cannot create new checklists while offline - only work with existing ones.

|| If the connection is flaky, enable flight mode so CxPlanner stays fully offline and avoids interrupted syncs.

## How to prepare for offline work on mobile and tablet

1. Open your project on mobile or tablet.
2. In the left sidebar, scroll to the bottom and click **Offline synchronization**.
3. Tap **Synchronize data to cache**.
4. Choose what to sync, for example checklists you are assigned to.
5. Work offline. Changes queue until the connection returns.

## How to prepare for offline work on desktop

1. Click your **avatar** in the top right corner.
2. Select **Offline synchronization**.
3. Click **Synchronize data to cache** and select what you need.

## Optional: pause uploads on a weak connection

1. Pause uploads so CxPlanner does not attempt sync on an unstable signal.
2. Continue working offline.
3. Un-pause later to upload from the same device.

## Troubleshooting: offline mode

| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Checklist not available offline | Not assigned, or not included in the sync selection | Assign the checklist, then run **Synchronize data to cache** again and include it |
| Nothing uploaded after reconnect | Uploads are paused, or you opened a different device | Un-pause uploads on the same device that created the work, then wait for uploads to finish |
| Checklist missing after sync | Checklist was not selected in the cache sync | Re-sync and select the missing checklists |
