How to change a task type

Changing Task Types

Only users with the project roles "Manager" and "Admin" can use this function

To change a task type, open the "punchslist items & tasks" tab on the left side. Once you have opened the "punchslist items & tasks" tab, locate the task you wish to change. In this case, we want to change the task type for the task with "ID 12" named "failed observation"

Once you have found the task you want to change, open it and find the three gears in the top right corner. Here, you will find the "Change Task Type" function and click the blue "Type" button.

After clicking the blue "Type" button, you will see various task type options to choose from.

Note that the number of options may vary from project to project.

The Desired Option is Not Available

You might find that the task type you want to change to is not available. This is because they are not enabled in the settings. For example, if you want to change a task to an issue or an inspection point but don't have the option.

To enable the different task types, go to "Project Settings" at the bottom left. Once there, open the "Tools / Modules" tab. Here, you can see various tools and modules that you can activate or deactivate.

In our case, we want to change our task to an inspection point. You therefore have to locate "Final inspection" and activate them via the slider.

Once the desired modules and tools are activated, follow the same steps as outlined above. Then, you will find that the activated items will be available when you want to change the task type.

Moving Tasks/Observations Between Checklists

Moving tasks or observations between checklists can be an essential part of effective project management and organization. You might have accidentally created observations that should have been in another checklist. This is not a problem, as they can be easily changed.

To change the reference for an observation, go to "punchslist items & tasks." Here, you can see all your registrations, including failed observations from checklists. In this example, we want to move the task named "Failed Observation" with the reference "test 1."

Once you have located the task/observation you want to move, open it and click the three small gears in the top right corner. Then, click "Change Task Type" at the bottom.

Next, choose the task type you want to change the task to. In this case, we want to change it to "Reference/Checklist."

Finally, link to the checklist you want the observation moved to. To do this, open the checklist you want the observation moved to, copy the link to the page, and paste it into the box. Once this is done, you will see the task you just moved at the bottom of your checklist.
