Description of project roles for users

Project roles

On a project, a user's rights and access are selected via Project roles and User groups - a key part of managing what each user can see and do within a specific project.

Please note: Project roles are not the same as company roles.

  • Project roles define your permissions within a specific project, such as creating tasks, replying to issues, or accessing project settings.
  • Company roles, on the other hand, define what you can do across the entire system, such as creating new projects or editing company-wide settings. (You can read more about company roles here)

If you're unsure what your role allows, the table below provides a detailed overview of each project role and the access it grants.

If a user is in a User group this may result in the user not being able to see the tasks of other users.

Description of the different roles

When you gain access to a project, you will also be assigned a role/permission on the project. This is what we call a project role. This determines what you have access to and makes sure you can only see whats relevant for the specific role you're given.

Who Should Have Which Role

Role

Description

Administrator

The project administrator is the highest authority. You should ensure that as few as possible have this role, as these users can delete the project.

Manager

A manager is the daily project leader in CxPlanner. This person can manage and administer the project and users. The project's project manager is this person.

Consultant

The consultant role can be given to individuals assisting the Manager in daily tasks. For example, a construction consultant helping with task control and completion.

Advisor

The advisor is often an engineer or architect. These individuals can answer tasks and create inspections.

Contractor

Contractors are the executing parties on the project. They can answer tasks and create quality assurance.

Observer

An observer is someone who can only view what happens in the project.
