Create and manage flowcharts in reports and Cx-Plan

Overview

How do I create and manage flowcharts in Cx-Plan or reports?

Flowcharts allow you to build diagrams in a full-screen editor, save them to the project, and insert them as images into rich text content in both Cx Plan and reports. All flowcharts are shared across the project.

Only users with the project role Contractor or higher can use flowcharts. Users with the role Viewer do not have access.

When and why to use this

Use flowcharts when you need to visualize processes, dependencies, or workflows directly in your project.

  • When documenting processes in commissioning plans or reports
  • When reusing diagrams across the project
  • When multiple users need access to the same diagrams
  • When adding visual explanations to rich text content

Key points:

  • Flowcharts are stored per project and shared with all users
  • Administrators and Managers can edit and delete all flowcharts
  • Other roles can only edit their own flowcharts
  • Flowcharts are inserted as images in text fields
  • API users do not have access to this feature

How to - step by step

Open the flowchart dialog

  1. Open your project and go to Cx Plan or a report with a rich text editor
  2. Click the Flowchart icon (route-style icon) in the toolbar
  3. The Flowcharts dialog opens with a list of saved diagrams

Create a new flowchart and insert it

  1. Click Add new flowchart
  2. The flowchart editor opens in full screen
  3. Build and edit your diagram
  4. Give the diagram a name (you can change the default name) and save

The system will:

  • Save the flowchart to the project
  • Generate an image of the diagram
  • Insert it into the text at your cursor position

Insert an existing flowchart

  1. Open Flowcharts from the toolbar
  2. Find the diagram in the list
  3. Click Insert

The flowchart is inserted as an image at the current cursor position.

Edit or preview a flowchart

  1. Open Flowcharts
  2. Click Edit to open the editor
  3. Make changes and click Apply

To preview only:

  • Click the thumbnail to open a larger preview

Remove a flowchart

  1. Open Flowcharts
  2. Click Remove next to the diagram

If you do not have permission, the action will be rejected.
