Add additional Gantt charts to a project
Overview
How do I add extra Gantt charts or timelines to my project?
In CxPlanner, you can create multiple Gantt charts per project to organize different work streams, phases, or disciplines separately. This makes it easier to manage complex schedules in parallel.
When and why to use this
Adding more than one Gantt chart is useful when you need to:
- Segment timelines by discipline, location, or subcontractor.
- Keep separate schedules for design, construction, commissioning, or maintenance phases.
- Focus on smaller scopes without affecting the master schedule.
System behavior:
- Each project starts with one default Gantt chart.
- Tasks can be moved between charts.
- If you remove a Gantt chart, all its tasks will be automatically moved to the default timeline.
How to - step by step
- Open your project in CxPlanner and click the Tools button in the Gantt chart module.
- In the settings area, select Add new Gantt instance or similar option.
- Name your new timeline to match its purpose (e.g., "Commissioning Phase", "HVAC Works").
- Repeat as needed to create multiple charts.
Step 1 & 2
Step 3 & 4
Behavior and results
- All Gantt charts are visible from the project’s Gantt module.
- You can switch between charts without affecting other schedules.
- Removing a Gantt chart will automatically move its tasks to the default timeline.
