Create and set Standard Views for Data Centers

Overview

How do I create and share custom views in CxPlanner?

This guide explains how to create and configure custom views in the Asset Overview, allowing you to structure data, group information, and share relevant views with other project users.

Only users with the project role Manager or higher can create and share views

When and why to use this

Use custom views when you want to control how data is displayed in your project.

  • When you want to structure assets into hierarchies (e.g. systems and subsystems)
  • When you want to group data by fields such as PowerStream or DataHall
  • When you need clear overviews for specific teams (e.g. electrical, cooling, operations)
  • When you want to filter and display only relevant data
  • When you want to share standardized views across the project

Key points:

  • Views can be saved as private or public
  • You can continuously update existing views
  • Data can be grouped across multiple levels
  • Filtering allows you to focus on specific data subsets

How to - step by step

1. Create custom columns (Optional)

  1. Go to Asset Overview in your project
  2. Click on a column header and select Add column
  3. Create a new column (e.g. DataHall or PowerStream)
  4. Repeat as needed

2. Enter data in the columns (Optional)

  1. Fill in values in the new columns
  2. Use consistent naming for correct grouping

Examples:

  • DataHall1, DataHall2
  • PowerStream 1, 2

3. Group data in the view (Optional)

  1. Click the column you want to group by (e.g. PowerStream)
  2. Select Add to group
  3. Repeat for additional levels (e.g. DataHall)

Example structure:

  • Level 1: Asset Type
  • Level 2: PowerStream
  • Level 3: DataHall

4. Create the view

  1. Click View Setting and select Create View
  2. Enter a name (e.g. Base View) and choose visibility:
  • Private - only visible to you
  • Public - visible to all users
  1. Click Save
