How do I quickly create a commissioning project with assets and checklists in CxPlanner?


This guide explains how to create an asset-based project, define checklist phases, and automatically assign checklists to assets.


Only users with the company role Manager or higher can create and configure projects.


When and why to use this

Use this setup when starting a new commissioning project.


Typical use cases:

  • Creating assets such as AHUs or exhaust fans
  • Setting up pre-functional and functional tests
  • Automatically assigning checklists to assets
  • Planning and assigning commissioning activities

  • Verification phases can be renamed later
  • Checklists can be assigned automatically
  • Assets and data can be imported later through Excel or PDF
  • Planned dates create a timeline automatically


How to - step by step

1. Create the project

  1. Go to Projects
  2. Click Add Asset-Based Project
  3. Enter a project name
  4. Select a project type


2. Configure checklist phases

  1. Define your checklist types
  2. Example: Pre-functional or Functional Performance Test
  3. Continue to the next step


3. Add asset types

  1. Add the assets you want in the project
  2. Example: Air Handling Units or Exhaust Fans
  3. Define the quantity
  4. Create the project


4. Assign checklist templates

  1. Go to Types of Assets
  2. Select an asset type
  3. Add checklist templates to the asset
  4. Repeat for additional checklist types if needed

5. Review assets and tests

  1. Open Asset Overview to see all assets
  2. Open Global Test View to see all checklists
  3. Assign responsible users, groups, or companies
