Set up a Timeline and Schedule for Data Centers in the Asset Module

Overview

How do I set up a commissioning or test plan in CxPlanner?

This guide explains how to plan and structure your checklists across levels using dates and the Gantt timeline.

Only users with the project role Manager or higher can plan and edit commissioning plans

When and why to use this

Use this feature when you need to plan and visualize commissioning activities in your project.

  • When you have created assets and assigned checklists
  • When you want to plan test sequences across levels (Level 2-5)
  • When you need to assign start and end dates to checklists
  • When you want to visualize the plan in a Gantt timeline
  • When you need to manage dependencies between activities

Important to know:

  • Planning can be done manually, via bulk updates, or Excel import
  • The Gantt view is based on Microsoft Project logic
  • Changes at folder level affect all underlying checklists
  • Status is displayed visually (green = approved, red = failed)

How to - step by step

Plan checklists directly in the asset view

  1. Go to your project and navigate to Assets
  2. Select an asset (e.g., ATS)
  3. Locate the Start date and End date columns and select a date in the grey row for a level (e.g., Level 3)
  4. The system automatically assigns dates to all underlying checklists

Alternative: Plan one checklist at a time

  1. Click the start date for a specific checklist
  2. Select a date and repeat for the end date

Alternative: Import plan from Excel

  1. Go to Asset Overview and click Options
  2. Select Import and upload your Excel file with dates

Use the Gantt timeline for planning

  1. Go to the menu and select Gantt Timeline
  2. Expand the levels/folders and view planned checklists
  3. Edit the plan directly in the Gantt view
  4. Drag bars to adjust dates
  5. Move entire folders to update all underlying activities
  6. Adjust individual checklists as needed

Create dependencies (Additional)

  1. Select a checklist
  2. Define a dependency to another checklist
  3. Use an end-to-start relationship
