Overview


How do I create and manage templates in CxPlanner?


Templates in CxPlanner allow you to standardize commissioning checklists, test protocols, and project workflows. They can be shared across your company, linked to projects, or kept private for personal use.

How to - step by step


1. Access the Template Center


  1. Open CxPlanner.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Template Center.


2. Select a template type


  1. Choose a template type based on your license.
  2. For commissioning workflows, select Commissioning Test.


3. Explore template sections


Templates are organized into four sections:


  • My Templates - Templates you created.
  • Company Templates - Templates shared within your company.
  • Project Templates - Templates linked to specific projects.
  • Public Templates - Templates available across all CxPlanner accounts.


4. Create a new template


  1. Click Add Template.
  2. Enter a name (e.g., Template B1).
  3. Define a category and presenter if needed.


5. Configure visibility and permissions


  1. Select Visible for Company to share with your team.
  2. Choose who can edit the template (e.g., Company Moderators).


6. Adjust template availability (optional)


  • Beginners should leave availability settings as default.
  • Advanced users can lock templates to specific projects for tighter control.


7. Import from other templates or Excel


  1. Use the Import option to pull data from existing templates.
  2. Import from Excel to migrate pre-existing checklists.


8. Add a new block


  1. Click Add New Block.
  2. Choose Add Test Item Block to create a new section.


9. Add line items


  1. Name the block (e.g., General).
  2. Add line items with labels and data fields (e.g., Red?, Beginner Whales).


10. Add optional details


You can include additional information such as:


  • Scope
  • Acceptance criteria
  • Method and tools


11. Define requirements for items


  • Require a photo or numeric input for completed line items.
  • Enable Required Comment for failed items to capture explanations.


12. Add advanced features


Use the Action Block to include:


  • Signature requirements
  • Additional note fields


13. Sync data to equipment assets (optional)


  • Enable Sync Value to Asset Checklist to link data directly to asset records.


14. Finalize and review


  1. Double-check the template name, description, and structure.
  2. Review line items for completeness.
  3. Confirm visibility and permissions before saving.



Behavior and results


Templates in CxPlanner act as structured blueprints for test and checklist creation. Once created:


  • They can be reused across multiple projects.
  • Visibility follows the permissions you set.
  • Any changes to a shared template affect all users with access.
  • Linked templates automatically apply to relevant projects.
