Overview: import and update assets from CSV
CSV import in Asset Overview lets you add many assets at once or export, edit, and re-import existing asset data, which is used for bulk import of equipment lists and ongoing mass updates.

- Your role must be Manager or higher.
- You can find the menu at Project - Asset Overview.
- This changes the asset list and field values in the project.
Asset types must exist before import. Add them under Types: Assets if needed.

How to import and update assets from CSV

Add one new asset
- Open your project from the dashboard.
- Go to Asset Overview.
- Generate a unique tag.
- Select the asset type, for example ATS, BMS, or Chiller.
- Save the asset.
Import many new assets
- Confirm asset types exist under Types: Assets.
- Download the import template and choose the delimiter.
- Fill in required data: Tag and Asset type. Asset type must match an existing type.
- Upload the file in Asset Overview.
Update existing assets
- Export the current asset list as CSV from Asset Overview.
- Edit the CSV. Keep original asset IDs intact.
- Re-import the edited CSV.
- Review the assets to confirm the updates.

- Importing adds new records with the chosen type and tag.
- Updating replaces mapped fields without changing the asset ID.
Troubleshooting: CSV import and update
Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
CSV not uploading | Delimiter does not match the file | Switch between comma and semicolon, then upload again |
Missing asset data | Template incomplete | Re-download the template and fill required fields |
Cannot access Asset Overview actions | Project role is below Manager | Ask a project Admin to raise your role to Manager |
Duplicate tags | Tag already exists in the project | Generate a new unique tag before import |
Updates not applied | Asset IDs were changed or removed | Restore the original IDs in the CSV and re-import |
