How do I import assets from an Excel file into my project?
Importing assets from Excel is a fast and structured way to add large amounts of data to your project in CxPlanner. It allows you to upload existing asset lists or set up a new asset-based project without creating everything manually.
When and why to use this
Use Excel import when working with many assets and you need a scalable setup.
- When you already have an asset list in Excel
- When starting a new project with many assets
- When you want to avoid manual asset creation
- The system automatically maps columns to CxPlanner fields
- New asset types can be created during import
- Requires correct column headers in your file
How to - step by step
Start the import
- Go to Project Dashboard
- Navigate to Asset Overview
- Click on Options
- Select Import Assets
Upload your file
- Click Choose File
- Upload your Excel or CSV file
Map columns
- Review the automatic mapping
- Ensure all columns are correctly matched
- Adjust mapping manually if needed
Examples:
- “ModelType” → Model
- “MyName” → Name
- Click OK when mapping is complete
Review data before import
- Review the quality control overview
- Check values and column accuracy
- Make adjustments if needed
- Click Add All to proceed
Handle new asset types
- If new types are detected (e.g. Generator, CRAC)
- Confirm creation by clicking Yes
- Optionally add more details
- Continue the import
