Lock a template to prevent editing
Overview: lock a checklist template
Template locking in the Template Center makes a checklist template permanently read-only, which is used when a verified test script must stay unchanged across projects.
- Your role must be company Admin or Manager to lock templates.
- You can find the menu at Template Center - Checklists - template three-dots menu - Lock Template.
- This makes the template permanently read-only. Locked templates cannot be unlocked.
How to lock a template
- Go to Template Center and open the Checklists tab.
- Find the template you want to lock.
- Click the three-dots menu on the right side of the template.
- Select Lock Template.
- Confirm in the pop-up window.
- Confirm that a lock icon appears next to the template.

Troubleshooting: lock a template
Problem | Cause | Solution |

Cannot edit a template | Template is locked | Duplicate the template and edit the copy |
Cannot unlock a template | Locked templates cannot be unlocked | Duplicate the template to create an editable version |
Cannot delete a locked template | Your company role is below Admin | Ask a Company Admin to delete it, and include the template name |
