Add detailed descriptions/notes to a site-inspection report
Overview
Sometimes a checkbox or a short comment isn’t enough to explain what you saw on site. In CxPlanner site-inspection reports, you can enable a Detailed description field and add a dedicated Notes section to capture observations, constraints, risks, and follow-ups. This is also useful if you think in terms of remarks, field notes, or inspection notes.
How do I turn on Detailed description?
- Go to your Template Center **and open your **Template.
- Scroll down and add the Detailed description
Once enabled and imported users performing site inspections will see an expanded text field where they can add more detailes to their observations.

What should I write in Notes?
Wondering what kind of information belongs in the Notes section? Use it to add context that helps others understand the situation and what needs to happen next.
Common examples include:
- What was observed on site (what, where, when)
- Possible cause (if known)
- Impact or risk (if relevant)
- Suggested action and responsible party
- Access constraints or dependencies
Troubleshooting
Why can’t I see the detailed description option?
If the option is missing, one of the following is likely true:
- You don’t have the required permissions (Manager or Admin)
If you don’t see template settings at all, ask a project Admin to enable the detailed description for you.
