Add links and files to checklist line items
Overview
How can I add links or files directly into checklist line items?
In CxPlanner, you can enrich checklist line items with internal file references or external links. This makes it easier to connect drawings, documents, or external resources directly to your commissioning checklists.
When and why to use this
Adding files and links in checklist line items is useful when you need quick access to supporting documentation.
- Use when linking drawings, manuals, or project documentation.
- System automatically recognizes file and link prefixes and formats them into clickable links.
- Files must exist in the Files module to be opened through CxPlanner.
- External links are allowed, but you should verify they are secure and up to date.
How to - step by step
- Make sure custom columns are enabled in the checklist settings. (Supported columns:
Col1
-Col16
.) - Open or import your checklist data.
- Insert the correct prefix in the column:
- For files:
file:<filename>
- For links:
link:<website>
Example: If your file is named PID_COOLING.pdf
, enter: "file:PID_COOLING.pdf
" the system will display it as a clickable file link.
- Save and review the checklist.
- Click on the file or link to confirm it opens correctly in the CxPlanner viewer or external browser.
Behavior and results
When entering formatted data in checklist columns:
- File links open directly in the CxPlanner document viewer.
- External links open in a new browser tab.
- You can include multiple files, links, and plain text in the same cell.
