Become an Admin on a project you're not invited to
Overview
As a Company Admin, you have the right to access any project in your organization - but this access is not automatic. By default, projects are only visible to the users invited to them. If you were not added to a project, you will not see it in your dashboard even if you are a Company Admin. Use the steps below to grant yourself access to any project you need visibility into.
Once you request access, you can choose between two levels:
- Become Admin - grants you full admin rights on the project without changing the existing ownership.
When and why to use this
Use this feature when you need access to a project you were not invited to. Typical scenarios:
- A project was created by a user who has left the company.
- You lead a commissioning process and need visibility into all active projects.
- A project needs to meet compliance or quality standards and requires central oversight.
Guide - How to Taking Ownership of a Project:
- Click on your profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select "Company Profile" from the menu.
- Go to the "Project Overview" section.
- Click "Get Access" to become an admin on the project.
You now have full admin rights to the project and can manage it as needed.

Behavior and results
Once you take ownership:
- If you chose Become Admin:
- You are added to the project as a Project Admin.
- All project settings and members become visible and editable to you.
- The original Project Owner retains their ownership status.
- Other users retain their roles unless you change them manually.
- The project appears in your dashboard.
- The action will be logged in the project log
Troubleshooting
Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
"Get Access" button not visible | Not a company admin | Ask an existing company admin |
I am Company Admin but a project is not visible in my dashboard | Company Admin does not give automatic project access - projects are only visible to invited members | Go to Company Profile → Project Overview and use Get Access on the relevant project |
I used Become Admin but the project owner is listed as someone else | Become Admin does not change ownership - it only adds you as a Project Admin | Ask the project owner to transfer the ownership |
Quick facts
- Requires: Company Admin
- Location: Profile → Company Profile → Project Overview
