Granting Project Creation Rights to a User
Overview: grant project creation rights
Project creation is controlled by the user's company role. Assigning Moderator or Admin in Users lets that person create projects, which is used when a team member must start new projects without asking a Company Admin each time.
Project roles such as Manager or Contractor only apply inside a project and do not grant project creation.
- Your role must be Company Admin.
- You can find the menu at Profile icon - Users.
- This changes whether the user can see and use Create Project.
How to grant project creation rights
- Click your profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select Users.
- Add the user if they are not already in the company user list.
- Change their company role to Moderator or Admin.

Results: company roles and project creation
Company role | Can create projects | Can manage company users |
|---|---|---|
User | No | No |
Moderator | Yes | No |
Admin | Yes | Yes |
- After the role update, Create Project appears for that user.
- Project roles still only apply inside each project.
Troubleshooting: grant project creation rights
Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
User cannot create a project | Their company role is still User | Change their company role to Moderator or Admin under Users |
Create Project button is missing | User is not in the company Users list, or role was not saved | Add them under Users, set Moderator or Admin, then ask them to refresh |
User is Manager on a project but still cannot create projects | Project roles do not grant creation rights | Update the company role, not the project role |
