Combine 3D-models

Overview

How do I combine 3D models in the file module?

In CxPlanner, you can combine multiple 3D models so they are displayed together in a single model view. This makes it easier to work with different discipline models in the same context — for example architecture, structure, and installations.

There are two methods for combining models:

  • A quick combination, which is only temporary.
  • A permanent combination, where a folder is created for the combined model.

When and why to use this

Combining 3D models is useful when you want to work with multiple discipline models in a single view.

Typical scenarios:

  • When multiple disciplines need to be reviewed together.
  • During coordination and model review.
  • When you want to see clashes or relationships between models.
  • When you want to create a permanent combined model for further work.

How to do it — step by step

Method 1: Quick combination of 3D models

This method is fast, but the combination is not saved.

  1. Select the 3D models you want to combine.
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Select Combine 3D models.

When the model opens, the selected models will be displayed together in a single view.

Method 2: Create a permanent combination of models

This method creates a permanent combination, which is saved in a folder.

  1. Select the 3D models you want to combine.
  2. Right-click the selected files.
  3. Select Combine files.

CxPlanner will then create a folder with the combined model, so you can always find and continue working with it.

Note: This function is only available to users with the project role Administrator
