Granting Project Creation Rights to a User
Overview
How do I allow a user to create projects in CxPlanner?
By default, new users in CxPlanner cannot create their own projects. To grant this ability, you must assign them a company role with the necessary permissions via the User Management section.
When and why to use this
Grant project creation rights when a user needs to start and manage new projects independently.
- Needed when a team member is expected to initiate projects without Admin intervention.
- The system checks the user’s company role to determine if they can create projects.
- Project roles (Manager, Contractor, etc.) only apply within a single project and do not affect the ability to create new projects.
- Limitation: Only Moderator and Admin company roles can create projects.
How to - step by step
- Click your profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select "Users" from the menu.
- Add the user just as you would when adding them to a project.
- Once the user is added, change their company role to Moderator or Admin to enable project creation.
Behavior and results
Company role permissions for project creation:
Company Role | Can create projects | Can manage company users |
---|---|---|
User | No | No |
Moderator | ✅ Yes | No |
Admin | ✅ Yes | ✅ Yes |
- Important: Project roles (Admin, Manager, Contractor, etc.) only apply within specific projects and do not grant the ability to create new projects.
- Once the role is updated, the Create Project button will appear in the user’s interface.
