Lock a Template to Prevent Editing
Overview
How do I prevent a template from being changed once it’s finalized?
In CxPlanner, you can lock a template to preserve its structure and prevent any further edits. Once a template is locked, it becomes read-only permanently.
When and why to use this
Template locking is helpful when you need to keep a stable version of your checklists.
Use it when:
- You want to preserve a finalized version of a template.
- You need to ensure that templates used across multiple projects stay consistent.
- You want to prevent accidental or unauthorized edits.
Limitations:
- Locked templates cannot be edited or unlocked.
- Only Admins can delete locked templates.
- You can always duplicate a locked template to create a new editable version.
How to - step by step
- Go to the Template Center in CxPlanner and open the Checklists tab.
- Find the template you want to lock.
- On the right side of the template, click the three dots menu. Select Lock Template.
- Confirm your choice in the pop-up window.
- Once locked, a lock icon will appear next to the template.
