Measure distances, angles, and point coordinates in 3D models.
Measure distances and angles in the 3D viewer
The measuring function in the 3D viewer in the File Module lets you measure distances and angles, set spot coordinates, and calibrate the model directly in the opened 3D file. This is used when, during handover, you need to verify measurements and placements against the design without having to look up the original drawing.
Open the measuring function
- Go to the File Module in the sidebar and open the 3D model you want to measure on.
- Wait for the model to load in the 3D viewer.
- Click the ruler icon on the right side of the sidebar.
- Select the measuring function you need: distance, angle, spot coordinate, or calibration.

Measure the distance between two points
Use distance measurement to check clearances, spacing, or placements directly in the model, for example whether there is sufficient distance between an installed duct and a load-bearing structure before final handover.
- Select distance measurement in the measuring panel.
- Click the first point on the model.
- Click the second point.
The distance between the two points is shown directly in the viewer.

Measure an angle in the model
- Select angle measurement in the measuring panel.
- Click the points on the model that define the angle.
The angle is shown in degrees directly in the viewer.

Set a spot coordinate in the model
A spot coordinate marks a specific point in the model so you can document a location for later reference, for example the placement of a component during a site walkthrough.
- Select spot coordinate in the measuring panel.
- Click the point on the model you want to mark.
The coordinate of the point is shown in the viewer.

Calibrate a 3D model
The model is calibrated automatically from its drawing data when it is uploaded, so measurements are accurate from the start by default. Use the calibration function if you subsequently need to adjust the reference manually - for example if a measurement in the model does not match the actual, known distance on site.
- Select calibration in the measuring panel.
- Click two points on the model where you know the actual, real distance between them.
- Enter the actual distance.
The viewer then scales the measurements in the model according to this reference.
