Rename photos within tasks

Overview

How do I rename a photo in a task?

Renaming photos in tasks helps keep your documentation clear, organized, and professional. Instead of generic filenames like IMG_0012.jpg, you can give photos descriptive names that make them easier to identify in CxPlanner and in exported reports.

All users who are assigned to a task can upload and rename photos in tasks.

When and why to use this

Renaming photos is useful when you want to:

  • Make task documentation easier to review.
  • Ensure exported reports are professional and easy to understand.
  • Replace generic camera filenames with descriptive labels.

The system will:

  • Update the photo name in both the task view and all related reports.
  • Apply the new name immediately after saving.

Limitations:

  • The change only applies within CxPlanner - it does not rename the original file on your device.
  • You can only rename photos attached to tasks you have permission to edit.

Guide - How to rename photos within tasks

  1. Open your task and click on the three dots menu in the top right corner of the photo.
  2. Enter a new, descriptive name for the photo.
  3. Click Save to apply the change.

Behavior and results

  • The updated name appears immediately in the task view.
  • The new name is also shown in any exported reports.
  • The original file stored on your device or upload source is not renamed.
  • The name change is logged in the task’s history for traceability.
