Change Task Type or Move Tasks Between Checklists
Overview: change task type or move tasks
Changing task type reclassifies a task. Linking a task as Reference / Checklist moves an observation or punch list item onto another checklist while keeping the same task ID.
Available types depend on which tools are enabled in project settings.
- Your role must be Manager or Admin.
- You can find the menu at Punch list items and Tasks - open task - three gears - Change Task Type.
- This changes task classification and checklist linkage. History and task ID stay the same.
How to change a task type
- Open Punch list items and Tasks from the left sidebar.
- Open the task you want to modify.
- Click the three gears icon in the top-right corner of the task view.
- Select Change Task Type and click the blue Type button.
- Choose the new task type from the list.

How to enable a missing task type
- Go to Project Settings in the lower-left menu.
- Open the Tools / Modules tab.
- Locate the tool or module you need, for example Final Inspection, and turn it on.

How to move a task or observation between checklists
- Open Punch list items and Tasks.
- Open the task or observation you want to move.
- Click the three gears icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Change Task Type.
- Choose Reference / Checklist as the new task type.
- Open the target checklist in a new tab and copy its URL.
- Paste the URL into the reference field on the task.
- The task appears at the bottom of the selected checklist.
