Upload Files and ZIP Archives to the File Module

Overview


How do I upload files or ZIP folders in the file module?


CxPlanner allows users to upload multiple file types, including bulk uploads and ZIP files with automatic extraction. The upload functionality is accessible only in folders where you have write access.


Only users with upload permissions for a folder can use this feature.Users with the project role 'Admin` always has access



Concept for the files module


Use the file upload feature to organize and centralize project documents, drawings, reports, and supporting materials directly within CxPlanner.


  • Upload files individually or in bulk
  • Upload ZIP archives with automatic extraction into the folder structure
  • Upload access is limited to folders with write permissions
  • Storage usage applies across all projects, depending on your license


Steps to upload files:


  1. Navigate to the File module.
  2. Click on a folder that shows a blue plus symbol – this indicates you have upload rights.


  1. Click the Upload button that appears.
  2. Drag files into the upload field or click to browse and select files.
  3. After selecting files, click Upload to begin.

Upload and extract ZIP files


ZIP files can be extracted automatically into your folder structure.


Steps to upload a ZIP file with extraction:


  1. Follow the steps above to open the Upload dialog.
  2. Add a ZIP file.
  3. A yellow message box will appear with an “Extract ZIP” checkbox.
  4. Check the box to extract the ZIP contents directly into subfolders within the selected folder.

Storage and file size limits


  • Max file size: 5 GB per individual file
  • Global storage: Shared across all projects under your license
  • No project-specific storage cap, but license usage is cumulative



Monitor storage uses


Only the companies Administrator has access to this section


  1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner.
  2. Go to Company profile → Company agreement.
  3. View current storage and request additional space if needed.

You don’t have folder write access

Ask a project Manager or Admin for permission
