Overview: bulk actions in Asset overview

Bulk actions and advanced options in Assets overview let you select one or more assets and apply changes in batch, including reassigning asset types, assigning checklists, exporting QR codes, auto-populating asset data with CxAI, and importing or updating large asset sets via file upload, which is used on projects with large equipment inventories.

Your role must be Manager or higher for bulk actions and options menu actions.
You can find the menu at Asset module - Assets overview - select assets - Bulk actions, or scroll the grid header right to Options.
This changes asset data, checklist assignments, file attachments, floorplan placement, and asset creation depending on the action.

All bulk actions and options menu actions require project role Manager or higher. Bulk remove of assets or checklists cannot be undone in bulk. Review your selection before confirming.

Requirements for bulk actions

How to use bulk actions on selected assets

Open the Asset module from the left project sidebar.
Click Assets overview.
Select one or more assets with the checkbox on each row.
Click Bulk actions.
Choose an action:

Change asset type - reassigns all selected assets to a different asset type
Mark on floorplan - opens the floorplan so you can place all selected assets
Assign files - attaches files from the File module to all selected assets
Assign document files - assigns files to document requirement slots from the document matrix
Assign checklists - assigns one or more checklist types to all selected assets
QR Export - exports QR codes for all selected assets
AI Auto-update asset data - uses CxAI with one of: From image, Search for documents with data, or Select file to extract data from
Remove checklists - detaches assigned checklists from selected assets without deleting the template
Remove assets - permanently deletes the selected assets

Scroll the Assets overview grid header all the way to the right until Options appears.
Click Options and choose:

Reset columns - restores default column visibility
Download list - exports the current filtered asset list to Excel
Quick asset creation - creates numbered assets from an Asset ID prefix and count, for example PUMP-001 through PUMP-010
Import Assets - opens the asset import flow
Bulk update assets - updates one or more fields in-app without a file
Advanced bulk update - updates many fields from a CSV or XLSX file
Extract tags from picture - CxAI reads a photo and creates or matches asset IDs and tags

Troubleshooting: bulk actions in Asset overview

Problem	Cause	Solution
Bulk actions button does not appear	No assets are selected	Select at least one asset checkbox
Auto-update from image returns no data	Selected assets have no nameplate photos	Attach nameplate photos, then retry
Extract tags from picture creates no assets	Image quality is too low or tags are not legible	Use a clearer, higher-resolution photo with printed asset tags
Advanced bulk update fails on upload	File format does not match the expected template	Download a sample from the import flow and reformat your spreadsheet
Assign checklists shows no checklist types	No checklist types exist on the project	Create or assign a checklist type in Template Center first
Remove assets cannot be undone	Deletion is permanent	Verify the selection before confirming, or re-import assets if you deleted the wrong set
