Add a new task / observation

Overview

How do I add a task, issue, deficiency, or observation in a project?

In CxPlanner, tasks are used to document everything from punch list items to general issues and observations. Whether you're tracking deficiencies during commissioning or recording site notes, it all happens through tasks.

Only users with the project role Consultant or higher can create new tasks. Visibility and creation rights may also be affected by your assigned User Group in the project settings.

When and why to use this

Adding tasks ensures that issues are logged, visible, and resolved through a structured process. In CxPlanner, all task types - whether punch list items, deficiencies, or observations - are grouped under the term Task to keep things simple.

  • Use tasks to document issues during site inspections, commissioning, or design reviews.
  • Tasks appear across different views: table, kanban, schedule, and floor plans.
  • Your ability to see or create tasks depends on your project role and user group.
  • Tasks help maintain accountability and generate documentation like punch lists.

Tasks and Observations

CxPlanner is built around tasks. Tasks can be accessed in various views: table, kanban, schedules, and on floor plans - all showing tasks in different ways.

Which tasks you can see depends on your role in the project.

Guide - How to create a new task

  1. Navigate to the relevant project where you want to add a task and click on Punchlist items & Tasks.
  2. Click the New Task button.
