Fix camera access issues on mobile and tablet
Overview
How do I fix camera issues in CxPlanner?
If your camera does not work inside CxPlanner on your phone or tablet, it is often caused by device settings, browser permissions, or outdated software. This guide will help you troubleshoot and restore camera functionality.
When and why to use this
Camera access is required for taking photos directly in CxPlanner. If the camera does not work, you may experience errors or be unable to upload images.
You may need this guide if:
- The camera does not activate in CxPlanner.
- Photos cannot be taken in checklists or tasks.
- You see a browser or device permission error.
Limitations and behaviors:
- Very old devices may not support camera functionality.
- Denied browser permissions must be re-enabled manually.
- Some Android or Samsung devices add extra security layers.
1) Your mobile or tablet is not updated.
For security reasons, you should always update your devices. Older devices may experience challenges with selected features in CxPlanner.
- Go to system settings
- Check for any pending updates.
- Install updates and restart the device
2) Check if your device is too old
Legacy devices (for example iPhone 8 or older) may not support in-app camera use. In such cases, use the device’s native camera app and upload photos manually.
3) Re-enable camera permissions in the browser
If you have accidentally pressed "No thanks" to using the camera in your browser, you need to go into settings and activate it again.
If you're using the Chrome browser, you can do it as follows:
- Go to app.cxplanner.com (your homepage).
- Click on Settings (the three dots).
- Go to "Privacy and security."
- Go to "Site settings."
- Find and activate: "Camera."
4) Allow camera access in device security settings
If you're using a Samsung tablet, for example, there may be additional security blocks. Make sure that CxPlanner has access to your camera.
- Go to settings.
- Choose the Privacy menu (Permission Manager).
- Find CxPlanner and Chrome and make sure they are allowed to use the camera.
5) Fix Android app-level permissions
On Android, you can change permissions directly from the app icon:
- Find the CxPlanner app icon.
- Tap and hold the icon.
- Select App info / Permissions.
- Enable Camera.
Use alternative image capture on Android
If the default method does not work, you can activate an alternative photo capture method.
Behavior and results
- Once permissions are granted, the camera will open directly inside CxPlanner.
- If denied, you will not see the option to take photos.
- Legacy devices cannot bypass hardware limitations.
Permission matrix
Device/Browser | Required action |
---|---|
iOS (newer models) | Enable permissions in browser settings |
iOS (legacy models) | Not supported |
Android (Chrome) | Allow permissions in Site settings |
Samsung devices | Check additional security settings |
Troubleshooting
Problem | Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
Camera option missing | Browser or device blocked access | Re-enable permissions |
Camera opens but no image | Device too old | Use device’s camera app and upload |
Camera works outside CxPlanner | App/browser not allowed | Enable permissions in settings |
Still not working | Device security restrictions | Check manufacturer-specific settings |
