Inviting users with personal email addresses (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.)
Overview: invite users with personal email addresses
When you invite users, CxPlanner does not automatically create companies for free email domains such as Gmail or Yahoo, which is used to keep company linking and task assignment accurate.
Prefer a company email when one exists.
- Your role must allow inviting users to the project.
- You can find the menu at Project - invite user.
- This affects company linking, task assignment to companies, and user setup.
How to invite a user with a personal email
- Invite the user with their company email if they have one. CxPlanner links the user to the matching company domain automatically.
- If they only have a personal email, contact CxPlanner support by email at support@cxplanner.com or through in-app chat.
- Include the user's personal email address, the company they should be linked to, and optionally the project name.
- Wait for confirmation. Support typically responds within a few business hours.
Results: personal email invites
- The user can access the project after invite
- Company linking for free domains requires a support-assisted link
- Until the company is linked, you cannot assign company-level tasks to that missing company
Troubleshooting: personal email invites
Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
Company not created | User was invited with a free email domain | Contact support with the email address and the company to link |
Cannot assign company tasks | No company is linked to the user | Request manual company linking via chat or support@cxplanner.com, then retry assignment |
Invite works but company fields are empty | Free domains never auto-create companies | Use a company-domain email next time, or ask support to link the existing company |
