Inviting users with personal email addresses (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.)

Overview

How do I invite a user with a Gmail, Yahoo, or personal email address to my project?

When inviting users to your project, CxPlanner prevents the automatic creation of companies for free email domains (like Gmail or Yahoo) to ensure data integrity and security.

When and why to use this

You may encounter this situation when:

  • You're inviting a consultant or partner who uses a personal email like @gmail.com.
  • CxPlanner blocks automatic company assignment due to domain restrictions.
  • You want to ensure the user is still added correctly and associated with the right company.

Key points:

  • Inviting users with personal emails won't create a company.
  • The user can still access the project if invited.
  • You cannot assign project tasks to a company that wasn't created or linked.

Affected domains include: @gmail.com, @hotmail.com, @yahoo.com, @outlook.com, and other free email providers.

How to – step by step

  1. Try inviting the user using their company email

This is the easiest way. CxPlanner automatically links users to the correct company when the domain matches.

  1. If the user only has a personal email, follow these steps:

Contact CxPlanner support via email (support@cxplanner.com) or the in-app chat. Include this information:

    • The user's personal email address
    • The company they should be linked to
    • The project this relates to (optional)

  1. Wait for confirmation

The support team typically responds within a few business hours.
